ANGELICA

Angelica is the main female figure in the chivalric poem “Orlando Innamorato” by Matteo Maria Boiardo, and in the subsequent “Orlando Furioso” by Ludovico Ariosto, a pagan princess that wreaks havoc at Charlemagne’s court, owing to her exquisite beauty and her captivating and provocative nature. Orlando and Rinaldo vie for her affection, and her union with Medoro becomes the catalyst for Orlando’s descent into madness

SCICCAREDDU (di lu me cori) – in Sicilian dialect “donkey of my heart” – Sciccareddu is the protagonist of a popular song that testifies to the affection of a farmer for this precious animal, considering it a member of his own family, on par with a child.
